Activities of Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship Development for the year 2019-20

DSIMS e-cell student committee in collaboration with E-Cell, IIT-Bombay arranged an entrepreneurship workshop on 26th September, 2019 for DSIMS students.

The workshop titled” Illuminate” aimed and creating an awareness of intricacies related to entrepreneurship ,Business models, marketing and finance. 80 DSIMS students participated in the workshop.

On 22nd October, 2019, DSIMS eCell students arranged an event in DSIMS lobby for budding student entrepreneurs to get hands on sales experience. The budding entrepreneurs were given stalls to sell various products and services prepared by them. The event gave the participating entrepreneurs and the organizing committee important lessons in sales display, sales pitch, stall lay outing etc.

To encourage entrepreneurship, on 11th January 2020, Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies (DSIMS) hosted 1st HEF Entrepreneurship Day , in partnership with Higher Education Forum (HEF) Eight budding entrepreneurs from various fields, including a DSIMS alumni-Ms. Dhara Ajmera, were felicitated in the event. The young entrepreneurs shared their inspiring stories with the students. Five eminent speakers from diverse backgrounds such as the education sector, incubation center and successful entrepreneurial background shared the dais and addressed the students and young entrepreneurs. They addressed the students about diverse topics such as pro entrepreneurial policies, viewpoints of incubation centers about entrepreneurs and the success secrets for successful entrepreneurship. The eminent speakers were Mr. Harish Aiyer, a successful Independent entrepreneur, Dr. Raj Agarwal an educationist, Mr. Uday Wankawala-CEO of Atal Incubation Centre, Dr A K Sen Gupta-Convener HEF and Prof. Jeetendra Shah from IIT Mumbai.

In February 2020, 6 students from DSIMS e-cell attended the IIT Bombay’s 2 day event – E Summit 20, at IIT-B campus. .e-Cell student committee facilitated this activity.

In Apr 2020, the e Cell encouraged first year students to do summer internships in start ups and MSMEs such as NNEELL’S INVEST and experience first hand the struggles and the culture.

In May 2020, second year e Cell students were encouraged to do their capstone projects related to their ventures. The students did projects on topics such as – ‘Consumer Preferences from homemade cakes’ by a student who has home-made bakes and ‘Consumer Preferences for hatch back cars’ by a student who has car online dealership. The faculty guided them in these projects.
